Family Gateway is appealing to the local community to help light up Christmas for children and low income families living in poverty in the North East.

Most charities need help at Christmas, and Family Gateway is no exception. The charity is urgently asking for donations of gifts, trees and decorations to help bring some festive cheer to hundreds of children and families across North and South Tyneside and South East Northumberland who cannot afford to celebrate this Christmas.

Family Gateway provides outreach and support to over four hundred underprivileged children and families across these localities every year for whom Christmas can be a very difficult time of year.

Christmas Donations
Pauline Wonders, Chief Executive of Family Gateway, is appealing for the local community to come together and make this Christmas special for families in need:

“Many of the families we support struggle to find money for a weekly food shop, so buying presents or decorations at Christmas is impossible. Without this appeal and the support of our community, many children will wake up on Christmas day without even one present to open.”

“So when you’re out Christmas shopping, if you’d like to help and can afford to pop another pressie or some decorations into your trolley then please do. Your support will quite simply help to light up Christmas for a local family in need.”
