Introducing Phil, 29, our new Enterprise and Community Hub Manager! With a degree in Interior Architecture and a wealth of experience from various businesses, Phil is an excellent addition to the team.

As a local resident and previous user of the former Community Centre, Phil hopes to make Family Gateway’s Howdon Hub a welcoming, open environment for the local people.

What are your plans for the Hub?

“I remember the good old days when the building was first built, everyone used it. I’d come down as a kid during half term – I want to get the building back to that, back to how it was. Get people to come back in, break down the barriers, have people realise that the building does still belong to them. Lots of classes, clubs, open days! I’ve been looking at doing a silent disco. Hopefully another summer fair.

“Working closely with Enterprise Manager Cris, I’ll be making sure the building is running efficiently and working well to be able to support the groups and activities that we decide to run.”

Have you set yourself any goals?
“Making sure the Hub is sustainable and making money so we can give back to Family Gateway, supporting their work. It’s got to be managed properly and running efficiently to be able to support the staff, enterprises and community.

“I want to create an environment where people can come in for a chat, feel welcome, take part in activities and have fun!”

Phil has made an excellent addition to the team in his first week and has lots of plans – we hope you’ll feel free to pop in and have a chat with him in the Hub!
