Volunteering Opportunities with North East Charity Family Gateway
Did you know that 12.9 million people volunteer to work with a charity in England every month?
Would you like to make a difference to children and families living in poverty in the North East by volunteering for charity work?
Then why not volunteer for Family Gateway?
Volunteering Near Me
Volunteering for charity can be a hugely rewarding experience and a great way to build new skills, meet new people, and give back to your community.
Our volunteers across North and South Tyneside and Northumberland, help us on our mission to deliver support and outreach to over 400 children and families in poverty across the region.
We believe in the potential of people, and every volunteer and family support worker receives training and support to help them with their role and to understand how they make a difference to the charity work of Family Gateway.
Here’s what a Family Gateway volunteer has to say about us:
“I have just successfully completed their volunteer course, am volunteering for them and I am buzzing with life. Family Gateway unlocks the fulfilment of life. It turns what we have into enough and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. They can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home and a stranger into a friend.”
Volunteering Opportunities for Adults
Family Gateway have recently taken over the former Howdon Community Centre in Wallsend and we have a number of new volunteering opportunities available at the centre.
We are looking for volunteer receptionists, event support, D.I.Y, cleaning and janitor roles, activity co-ordinators or assistants. Get in touch today to see how you can help!
Why Volunteer for a Local Charity?
Pauline Wonders, CEO of Family Gateway comments on the importance of volunteering in the North East and supporting local communities:
“The local community are extremely supportive of Family Gateway and we rely on our brilliant volunteers to help our charity work in the region.
We have a number of volunteering opportunities available throughout the areas in which we work – North and South Tyneside, and Northumberland, and further afield. If you think you can help to make a difference, whether as a part-time volunteer or a full-time volunteer then get in touch as we’d love to have a chat. Family Gateway’s ethos is about the people in the community helping their neighbours and volunteers are a key part of this.”
If you don’t have time to volunteer, but would like to support our charity work, why not donate to Family Gateway here.
